ADA Compliance for US Based Loan Officer Websites
October 4, 2020
What is the ADA?
Ada stands for the Americans with Disabilities Act; it is a civil rights law that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities, ensuring they have the same rights and opportunities as those without.
In 2010, the U.S. Department of Justice passed the Americans with Disabilities Act Standards for Accessible Design, mandating that all electronic and information technology like websites, be accessible to those with disabilities, like vision impairment and hearing loss.
How do I make my Mortgage Loan Officer website ADA compliant?
There are no clear 'rules'; however, many organizations follow the Web Content Guidelines (WCAG). The WCAG is used as a reference point for organizations looking to improve their digital accessibility.
The good news is there are a few options available that significantly strengthen your compliance. See below for some recommended options:
accessiBe utilizes two applications that together achieve full compliance. The accessibility interface is responsible for all the UI and design-related adjustments, while the AI-powered background process handles optimizations for screen-reader and for keyboard navigation (the most complex requirements).
They offer a 7-day free trial, you can sign up on their website.
USERWAY Userway delivers an integrated and fully automated Compliance-as-a-Service™ solution that measures, monitors and fixes accessibility violations without requiring changes to your website's existing code.
It adds some of the same front end tools as the paid ones. It claims to “strengthen” compliance however the do not advertise by how much.
Please note that we have not ensured that your Roar Solutions website is ADA compliant. If you wish to signup for either the Accessibe widget or the Userway widget and provide us the widget code we can add this to your website. A small installation/integration fee will apply.
